在大熊和小熊星座的古希腊故事里,当儿子不知道大熊是妈妈的时候是想要猎杀她的,宙斯为了避免这样的悲剧,把他变成小熊后,他一眼就认出了自己的母亲。
艺术家郭亚冠从这个寓言故事里,得到启发:把不同的物体通过表象处理统一到同一个属性里,它们自身会不会有一种新的交流方式?
郭亚冠个人项目《寻找大熊星座》,是一个集行为绘画、舞台艺术、戏剧表演和现场音乐为一体的综合项目。整个项目围绕一个假设命题来进行:“如果世界只剩下一个颜色,我们如何继续前行?”在这个前提下,对可能发生的一切进行探索。
In the ancient Greek story of Big Bear and Little Bear, when the son didn’t knowthat Big Bear was his mother, he wanted to hunt her down. In order to avoidsuch a tragedy, Zeus turned the son into little bear, who recognized his bigbear mothe at a glance.
Artist Guo Yaguan was enlighted by this story and be curious about the problems: Isthere a new conversation system created among different things, if their surface are processed under one property?
Guo Yaguan’s personal project “Searching for the Great Bear” was a comprehensive project that combined action painting, stage art, theatre performance and live music. The whole project focused on a hypothetical proposition: “If the worldhad only one color left, how could we continue to move forward?” Under this premise, he explored what might happen.
5月27日晚,在黑桥“M的房间”里出现两个对应的三角区域,一大一小,郭亚冠把出现在这个区域里的所有墙面和物体、家具都染成黄色,形成他预设的统一属性。在大三角区域内,空调、电视和电视柜,椅子,墙壁上的面具,空画框,画布等等诸多元素调动在一起,形成了特定的舞台效果。布展期间的三角形梯子也被郭亚冠运用,成为行为表演时的一个重要道具,还包括涂料桶,院里外面捡来的枯树枝等,这种偶然发生的关联性,是艺术家实践中的意外收获与乐趣。
现场的行为绘画、戏剧表演和音乐,都与黄色的区域环境融为一体。在郭亚冠看来,“冲突性”是一切艺术形式中的重要因素,无论是绘画、戏剧还是舞台效果。视觉上主要以色彩为主,在绘画中主要产生色彩关系和明暗关系,舞台效果也会产生剧烈的画面感。
Onthe evening of May 27th, in the M Room at Heiqiao district, there are two corresponding triangular areas, big and small. Guo Yaguan painted the wall,objects, and furniture with in the area into yellow forcing them in the unified property.In the big triangular area, many elements such as air conditioner, TV and TVstand, chairs, masks on the wall, picture frames, canvas were organized to forma certain stage effect. Even the triangular ladder used in the arrangement ofthe exhibition was took advantage by Guo Yaguan as an important prop of the performance, as well as the paint buckets and dry branches from the courtyard.This incidental connection was the unexpected achievement and pleasure in theartist's practice.
The action painting, theatre performance and music were all integrated inti the yellow environment. In Guo Yaguan’s view, “conflict” was a crucial factor in anyforms of art, including drama and stage effect. Visually, the main focus wascolor. In painting, the relationships between colors and between light and shadwere mainly presented, and the stage effects would give people a strong picture impression.

当一切属性被完全统一之后,每一位表演者都用他/她自身的个人情感融入到这个环境里,去体现它此时此刻被大的环境吸收之后,所能做的每一个微妙的举动,以及彼此之间可能产生关联的对话。
郭亚冠说“我是画画的,我在黄色的画布上,用黄色的颜料,画一个黄色的人,这时这种绘画的价值到底还在不在?如果有一个黄色的人,在黄色的舞台背景里,这种表演的价值还在不在?”
整体项目,从一个古希腊神话故事做为引子,通过戏剧表演和舞台效果,融入艺术家郭亚冠对绘画等多种艺术形式的思考。表演中舞者的肢体语言,虽然在统一色彩的背景下,依然形成了强烈冲突。其中,仪式感的突出,除了我们之前提到的三角区域,七位表演者代指大熊星座的尾巴。而表演中,从大三角区域到小三角区域的挪移,中间通过一块画布,表演者之间出现的捆绑,挣扎等各自的表现也是一些关系里的束缚与挣脱。即便我们处于统一属性,自身依然各不相同,如同星座的天象关系一样,既有互相脱离又有相互依存,对话就是这样产生的。
When all the properties were completely unified, with his or her own emotion, each performer integrate into this environment reflecting every subtle action that can be done and every possible communication with in each other, after they were absorbed by the large environment at the moment.
GuoYaguan said, “I am a painter. I use yellow on a yellow canvas to draw a yellow person. At this time, is the painting still valuable? If there were a yellow person standing on a yellow stage, is the performance still worth while?”
The overall project started with an ancient Greek my thology story and was presented by the atre performance and stage effect in tegrating the artist Guo Yaguan's thinking on various art forms such as painting. The body language of the dancersall in the same color showed a strong sense of conflict. The rituality was highlighted by the triangular areas mentioned and the seven performers who played as thetail of the Great Bear constellation. During the performance, the performer smoved from the big trianglar area to the small trianglar area. With the help ofa canvas between two areas, the performers were tied and struggled with it,expressing the constraints and break-ups in some relationships. Even if we were in a unified property, we were still different from each other. Like the relationships among constellations, they dissociate from each other but denpendon each other at the same time. Thus the communication was produced.

当黄色油漆从梯子底端倒下,喷溅的涂料砸在一位表演者的身上以及周围的观众;艺术家匍匐过画布,其他表演者依次以各自的情绪与肢体语言一一匍匐穿过画布,通往小三角区域。大三角区域的表演占据了整个项目的大部分视线,小三角区域一个裸体女人依墙而站,似乎我们都忘记了她的存在。而当六位表演者抵达小三角区域拥挤在一起时,那个被捆绑在地的舞蹈演员似乎经过了多次挣扎依然无法前行。我注意到他因为挣扎而呼吸急促,腹部的起伏,那一刻居然泪湿。当然在前一刻艺术家行为表演与舞蹈演员肆意表现自我,通过画布时淋漓尽致的表现,已经令人感动。画面的载体如此有限,但它能够容纳的情感和表现方式却有那么大那么强烈。
同时,每一位表演者在区域里似乎对外界一无所知,充满向往和憧憬,试图通过努力去摆脱束缚,获得一种解放和自由。而最后通往小的三角区域时,就算鼓足勇气做各种尝试,穿过种种障碍,却还是处于黄色区域之内。在艺术家看来,这也反映人的状态,我们做任何事情,即便最后抵达或得到自己想要的,却仍然带有无法突破的自我局限或盲点。
郭亚冠做为一个以绘画为主体的艺术家,这是一次全新的尝试。在有限的条件和空间里,实现了一次关于艺术形式的多方位探索,没有做到更完美,但至少是一次倾情投入的艺术实践。就像他在视频直播看着那块做用绘画手段、身体穿行而过而形成的画面,他依然觉得很美好一样。“我们依然可以继续前行”,这是一个回答。
当我问到整个项目中,绘画与戏剧与舞蹈、音乐之间的关系时,郭亚冠说:就如列侬在一首歌里唱的一样:我在此时此刻干了一件事,可我不知道它到底是什么?这是另一个迷人之处。
When the bucket of yellow paint fell from the bottom of the ladder, the paint splatteredon a performer's body and the surrounding audience’s; the artist crawledthrough the canvas, and the other performers followed one by one with their own emotions and body language approching to the small triangle. The performance inthe big triangle attracted most of the attention sothat the naked woman standing against the wall in the small triangle area wasignored. When the six performers reached the small triangule and huddledtogether, the dancer who was tied to the ground seemed to have been unable tomove forward after many struggles. I noticed that he has been breathing hard with his belly riasing and falling because of the struggles. My eyes were filled with tear at that moment, although it hasbeen touching already when the artist and the dancers who wantonly expressed themselves passed the canvas. The scenes of the performance were so limited,but the emotions and expressions it could hold were as great and strong.
At the same time, each performer in the area was full of longings and admiration and they tried to get rid of the shackles with great efforts toobtain freedom, who seems like knowing nothing to the outside world. At the endof the journey to the small triangular area, even if you had the courage to doall kinds of attempts and went through all sortsof obstacles, you were still in the yellow zone. From the artist's point of view, it also reflects people's status. When we tried to do something, even if we finally got what wewant, we still had self-limitation or blind spots that could not be broken.
Guo Yaguan is an artist who majors in painting, and for him, it’s a brand-newattempt. In the limited conditions and space, a multi-faceted exploration ofart forms has been accomplished. It has not been very perfect, but it was atleast an artistic practice with full devotion. Just as he still felt very goodwhen he watched the scenes of the performance video playback,. “We can stillmove on” could be one of the answers.
When I asked about the relationships between painting, drama, dance and music in theentire project, Guo Yaguan said, “Just like Lennon sang in a song: I did something at this moment, but I don’t know what it is? That’s so fascinating.

The audience told me that Guo Yakuan's ball rolling in the performance reminded her of the West West Buddha myth. That could be a guess.
